As your

giddygirlie:

yourmonkeycalled:

unleashed pit bull approached my children, you said:

“Don’t worry, she’s friendly!”

But I heard:

“Hello, I am a stranger! There is my biting machine! Which I choose not to control!”

This.

It’s time for me to put on my Captain Obvious pants and say an unleashed DOG should be a concern, not an unleashed PitBull. Fair is fair.

Consider the statistics (Google is your friend for getting Merritt Clifton style numbers). Beagles have been on record to bite and kill; everyone’s favourite - the Lab - bite and kill; Pome-bloody-ranians can bite and maim. I had a Shih Tzu that was a damn menace.

Every dog has the possibility of “going bad” or simply having an idiot/careless owner. Needless breed-specific scaremongering, whether simply out of a poor choice of words or not, hurts everybody.

Disclaimer: This is coming from someone who owns a super gentle, kid friendly dog who is not a Pitty, has no kids, but keeps her dog leashed at all times unless it’s an enclosed off-leash area.
